Schedule

  • 1 - Day

Arrival at Faro Airport  ( From Faro to Troia +/- 250 Kms )

( You can play golf, have surfing lessons, walk along the beach or watch the dolphins ( Not Included ). You can also wander about to discover the region’s cultural heritage, such as the Carrasqueira village on stilts and the Troia Roman Ruins which actually reveal how the area was already rich in natural resources two thousand years ago.

Signs of human habitation in Troia date back many centuries. The Roman Ruins are amongst the most important archaeological remains, dating from the 1st Century. They were the biggest complex for the production of conserves and fish sauce in the Western Roman Empire, and this is also evidence of the importance of fishing in the local economy since long ago.

After Troia, Comporta is a much appreciated spot for a family beach outing and has some good restaurants. This is a paddy field area, so rice-based dishes are an unmissable specialty.

Located on the southern tip of the Tróia Peninsula, the huge sandy extent of Comporta Beach is a regular summer favourite, given good means of access and plenty of parking space.

Forming part of the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve, Comporta Beach has been well preserved with the original dune vegetation surviving along with the adjoining pine forest.
